About Ehsibli

A calculator hub for Gulf employment law, tax, property and construction, in Arabic and English.

Ehsibli answers one specific question about one specific country's law at a time: what an end-of-service gratuity comes to, what VAT is due on an invoice, what a mortgage costs on the day it completes, how many tiles a room takes. Six countries, both languages, and a page per question rather than a page per topic.

It is run as a platform rather than published under a byline. What stands behind an answer here is not who wrote it but what can be checked: every rule carries the article it comes from and the date that article took effect, the sources page lists them all, and a rule nobody has read against its own source is marked as such rather than quietly presented as settled.

That distinction is the whole design. A calculator that agrees with three other websites has told you what is popular. A calculator that names the article it applied has told you where to look if you disagree with it.

How every calculator is built

  • Every calculator is a pure function over a rule file, and each rule carries the article it comes from and the date that article took effect.
  • Rules are read against the instrument itself rather than a summary of it. Where a figure was taken from an official guide rather than the law, the rule file says so.
  • How often a rule is re-read is stated in its own file rather than assumed. Some move by decree and are checked yearly; some move administratively and are checked quarterly.
  • A rule nobody has yet read against its source is flagged and shown on the sources page. Nothing unverified is quietly presented as settled.
  • A rule that stops being true on a known date carries that date, and a test fails the day after it passes rather than waiting for a reader to notice.
  • Market figures such as material prices are dated illustrative defaults you can edit, never presented as current quotations.
  • All the arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
  • These tools are guidance. They do not replace legal advice or the official authorities.

What this site will not do

  • It does not give advice. These pages are guidance and do not replace a lawyer, an accountant, or the authority whose rule is being applied.
  • It does not collect what you type. Every calculation runs in your browser and no server receives your figures.
  • It does not present market prices as current quotations. Where a figure moves with a market rather than with a decree, it is an editable default carrying the date it was last checked.
  • It does not name banks, quote live rates, or take a commission on anything it tells you.
